Biography

Mahsa Vahdat, born on October 29, 1973 in Tehran, Iran, is an Iranian singer known for her work in Persian classical and world music. She studied traditional Persian singing under Pari Meleki and Mehdi Fallah, and earned a BA in Music from Tehran University's music faculty in 1993. Vahdat sang two tracks in the compilation Lullabies from the Axis of Evil (2004), after which she started a long-lasting collaboration with Norwegian record label Kirkelig Kulturverksted. Her album Songs From A Persian Garden (2007) featured an ensemble of Norwegian and Iranian musicians, including her sister Marjan Vahdat. In 2010, she received the Freemuse Award. Throughout her career, Vahdat has collaborated with notable musicians such as Tord Gustavsen and Knut Reiersrud, performing at concerts and festivals across multiple continents.
