Leif Rygg, born on May 3, 1940 in Voss, Norway, was a Norwegian musician and folk music instructor. He learned traditional fiddle playing from Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa, Lars Skjervheim, and Anders Kjerland. His early career saw him collaborating with notable musicians such as Knut Hamre on the album Nøringen (1980). Rygg's work included Bjølleslåtten (1994), a collection of traditional tunes after Ola Mosafinn, which he recorded in collaboration with Knut Buen and Kåre Nordstoga. This album was awarded the Spellemannprisen. In 1998, Rygg became an honorary member of the Norwegian National Association for Traditional Music and Dance. He received the King's Medal of Merit in gold in 2010 and the Rff award from Rådet for folkemusikk og folkedans. Rygg passed away on February 4, 2018.
