Christophe Carmona, born 21â¯Aprilâ¯1976 in Marseilleâs 2nd arrondissement, is a French rapper, songwriter, producer and actor who adopted the stage name Le Rat Luciano. He began his career as Donâ¯Carmon in the group Black and Whiteâ¯Zulus before coâfounding the Marseille collective Fonky Family in 1997, whose debut album Siâ¯Dieuâ¯Veut⦠achieved doubleâgold status. In 2000 he released his first solo effort, Modeâ¯deâ¯Vieâ¯ââ¯Bétonâ¯Style, certified gold and featuring the classic "Zikâ¯deâ¯laâ¯zone". He continued to collaborate with Fonky Family on Artâ¯deâ¯Rue (2001, platinum) and Marginaleâ¯Musique (2006, gold). In 2010, his solo mixtape Quartierâ¯Attitude expanded his reach, while his third, MAGMA (2026), was released sixteen years later. Throughout his career, Le Rat Luciano worked with artists such as Soprano, Jul, Lacrim, and SCH, and appeared on numerous compilations and mixtapes. He contributed to the 1996 film Nénette etâ¯Boni and the 2003 film Gomezâ¯etâ¯Tavarès. In 2023, at the inaugural Flammes Awards, he received the Flammeâ¯Ã©ternelle award from SCH in recognition of his enduring influence on French hipâhop.
