Biography

Las Estrellas de la Cumbia is a contemporary Peruvian cumbia band from the Lambayeque/Chiclayo area whose live shows around northern Peru were documented in early concert videos and local promotion that branded them “the pride of Lambayeque,” positioning them as a regional flagship act before their catalog reached streaming platforms. They began issuing recordings commercially with the live single “Fiesta Karibeña (En Vivo)” in 2023, which introduced their mix-heavy approach to classic and modern cumbia repertoire. In December 2024 they released the three-disc anthology Éxitos Cumbieros, a four-hour collection that captured extended concert medleys and helped establish Las Estrellas de la Cumbia on streaming platforms as a leading northern Peruvian cumbia outfit. Through 2025 they expanded their profile with a rapid sequence of singles such as “Mix Llorarás,” “Mix Romántico,” “Mix Factoría” and the ballad medley “Amor Eterno / Madre,” alongside collaborations with guest vocalists including Mirella Campos, Rosario Vílchez, Camila Talavera and Yamile Coronado on various live videos and mixes. The band consolidated this material on the live sets Las Estrellas de la Cumbia (Concierto En Vivo) and Éxitos de las Estrellas de la Cumbia (Concierto En Vivo), followed by the compilation Éxitos de las Estrellas de la Cumbia, all released in mid-2025 through Kumpay Producciones and Hans Nuñez Suxe Music Group. In April 2025 they issued the eight-minute single “Ya Será Tarde / Te Extraño Tanto,” a medley of songs by Adrián Marcelo and José Zelada produced by Kumpay Producciones, which became one of their most visible releases across DSPs and cemented Las Estrellas de la Cumbia as one of the new standard-bearers of Lambayeque’s live cumbia scene.
