Biography
The late bhangra star Labh Janjua (born in Punjab, India in 1957) first found fame in 1998 as a vocalist on megahit "Mundian To Bach Ke," which was produced by the UK's legendary Panjabi MC and sold 10 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. Janjua, who grew up in a musical family and learned how to play harmonium and other instruments from his grandfather, began carving out his songwriting career in the 1980s and released a string of solo albums, including debut Hulchul Hogi. Janjua became a favorite of Bollywood producers following his breakthrough contribution to sports-drama film Hattrick in 2007, and lent his vocals to numerous hit songs over the years, including "Jee Karda" from the 2008 film Singh Is Kinng and "London Thumakda" from the 2014 film Queen, gaining notoriety across India. On October 22, 2015, Janjua was found dead at his residence in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon, Mumbai. He was reported to have suffered from diabetes-related problems.
