La-33, a Colombian band from Bogotá's Teusaquillo neighborhood, was formed in 2002 by Sergio MejÃa and Santiago MejÃa. The group emerged from the vibrant street culture of Calle 33, where young artists experimented with various musical styles. La-33's debut album, La-33, released in 2004, featured nine original compositions and a cover of Henry Mancini's "Pantera Mambo". Despite lacking a record deal, the album sold over 20,000 copies. Notable tracks include "Soledad" and "Qué Rico Boogaloo", which appeared in various international compilations. La-33 performed at numerous festivals worldwide, including the Festival Latino Americando in Milan and Tempo Latino in Vic-Fezensac, France. The band's fusion of salsa, boogaloo, jazz, and Colombian folklore has earned them a dedicated following and significant cultural impact.
