Biography

Graciana Silva Garcia, known professionally as La Negra Graciana, born on December 18, 1939, in Puente Izcoalco, Veracruz, Mexico, was a Mexican singer and harpist who performed sones jarochos. She learned to play the arpa jarocha at age ten and began performing locally. La Negra Graciana released her debut album, Sones Jarochos con el Trío Silva, in 1994, which led to performances at venues like the Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Centre in London, and the Theatre de la Ville in Paris. She passed away on July 29, 2013.
