Kristi Stassinopoulou, born Chrisavgi "Kristi" Stassinopoulou on January 20, 1956 in Athens, Greece, is a singer, lyricist, and fiction writer. She studied acting and drama at Theatro Tehnis and the theatre-school of Petros Katselis. Her professional singing debut came in 1978 when she was cast as Mary Magdalene in the Greek production of Jesus Christ Superstar. In 1983, Stassinopoulou represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Mou Les" by Antonis Plessas. She released her self-titled debut album Kristi Stassinopoulou in 1986. In 1989, she met multi-instrumentalist Stathis Kalyviotis, forming the band Selana. Their collaboration led to several albums, including Ifantokosmos (1997) and Echotropia (2001), which reached the top 10 position in the World Music Charts Europe. In 2003, their album The Secrets of the Rocks remained top 10 in the same chart for six months.
