Biography

Kousuke Atari, born 中 孝介, Atari Kōsuke on 13 July 1980 in Naze, Kagoshima, Japan, is an actor and singer known for his work in J-pop. He began his career as a self-trained musician, performing in the shimauta style native to his hometown. His initial releases included several indie albums such as Atari (1999) and Kurudando (2000). Atari's breakthrough came with the release of his EP 思い出のすぐそばで/真昼の花火 (Right Next to Memories / Midday Fireworks) in 2006, which marked his entry into the mainstream music scene. Throughout his career, he released notable albums, including Kizuna Uta (絆歌; Bond Songs) in 2008. His discography also features collaborations with various artists and soundtrack contributions to films such as Cape No. 7 (2008), where he appeared as a singer, and anime series like Natsume Yuujinchou, for which he contributed the ending theme "夏夕空" (Summer Evening Sky). He has continued to put out albums in the 2020s, including 声をきかせて(Special Edition) in 2022.
