Biography

Kotiteollisuus, a Finnish heavy metal/hard rock band from Lappeenranta, was formed in 1991 by Jouni Hynynen, Janne Hongisto, and Jari Sinkkonen. The group initially released a demo under the name Hullu ukko ja kotiteollisuus in 1993 before shortening it to Kotiteollisuus in 1997. Their first album, Hullu ukko ja kotiteollisuus, was released in 1996. In 1998, Kotiteollisuus released Aamen, which reached number 4 on the Finnish charts and featured the single "Routa ei lopu". The band's popularity grew with subsequent albums such as Kuolleen kukan nimi (2002) and Helvetistä itään (2003), which included the hit single "Minä olen". In 2006, they released Iankaikkinen, which debuted at number 2 on the Finnish charts. Kotiteollisuus continued to release albums including Ukonhauta (2009) and Sotakoira II (2012), featuring collaborations with Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish on keyboards.
