Biography

The Philadelphia New-Wave throwback duo Korine formed in 2015 when lead singer Morgy Ramone and producer/multi-instrumentationalist Trey Frye, who each had other music projects going, became co-workers at a café and decided to begin working together on a new musical project. Their debut single, 2017’s “Corsage” made clear the debt they owed to such seminal 80s bands as New Order, The Cure and Joy Division. Their debut album, New Arrangements, came out on Halloween in 2018. They explored their synth-pop aesthetic even more on 2020’s The Night We Raise. They also reissued their debut album in order to capitalize on their growing fan base. Unable to tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Korine performed live on Twitch a handful of times that year, often presenting the entirety of their new album. In March of 2021 they released their next single, “Sunshie”, which did not deviate rom their established synth-heavy, retro-pop vibe and got them some traction in Japan.
