Biography

Kojo Antwi, born Julius Kojo Antwi in Darkuman, Accra, Ghana, is a prominent highlife and Afro-pop musician. After completing his education, he began his music career with the band Boomtalents before becoming the frontman of Classique Vibes, formerly known as Classique Handles. His first solo album, All I Need Is You (1986), marked his breakthrough in Ghana. Throughout his career, Antwi has blended Ghanaian highlife with Congolese soukous, Caribbean lovers rock, and African American soul and R&B. Notable albums include Mister Music Man (1992), Afrafra (1999), and Don't Stop the Music (1991). His song Tom & Jerry gained significant popularity in West Africa. Antwi was the first Ghanaian artist to be nominated for BET Awards and has received numerous accolades including the West Africa Tourism Award, All Africa Music Awards, Kora Award, and Our Music Award. In June 2018, he embarked on a tour of the US.
