Biography
Knut Kiesewetter, born on September 13,â¯1941 in Stettin, was a German jazz singer, songwriter, trombonist, guitarist, and producer. After moving to Garding at age three, he began studying trombone at fourteen and recorded his first singles at nineteen. He issued albums including That's Me (1967), Knut's Kaputte Witzekiste (1969), Leeder Vun Mien Fresenhof (1976), and Jazz Again (1980), and worked with Chet Baker and Dizzy Gillespie. Kiesewetter won the German Jazz Poll in the singer category eleven times and the Blueâ¯Note Jazz Poll three times. He taught song composition at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre in the 1980s and received the Order of Merit of SchleswigâHolstein in 2012. He died on December 28, 2016 in Garding.
