Max Fractal, born Kim Boekbinder, is a Canadian musician whose work spans dark synth-pop and acoustic looping. Formerly one half of the duo Vermillion Lies with sibling Zeo, they launched a solo career with The Impossible Girl (2010), funded through a successful fan-supported campaign. An early advocate of direct-to-fan funding, Boekbinder pioneered innovative crowdfunding projects, including the subscription-based "Mission Control" platform and the limited-release "Ephemeral Songs". Their later albums include The Sky Is Calling (2013) and Noisewitch (2017), the latter of which was released on their own Golden Glow Records label. Beyond music, Boekbinder has collaborated on socially engaged multimedia projects with artists and activists including Jay-Z, Molly Crabapple, the ACLU, and Laverne Cox.
