Petty Booka, a Japanese musical group consisting of two women, Petty and Booka, who sing and play ukulele. The duo initially gained recognition for their cover versions of Hawaiian ukulele classics and well-known rock songs. Their early albums included Toconut's Hawaii (1996) and Fujiyama Mama (1996). In 1997, the original Petty, Satomi Asano, left the group and was replaced by a new member, Naho Moriyama. The band continued to release albums such as Hawaiian Pure Heart (1997), Sweetheart of the Radio (1997), and Blue Lagoon (1998). In November 2002, the original Booka, Yuuka Susukida, departed to care for her baby and was replaced by Maiko Ikekatsu from Candy Eyeslugger. Petty Booka has toured extensively in Europe and North America, performing at events like SXSW's Japan Nite. Their discography includes Tokyo Bluegrass Honeys (2008), marking a shift towards bluegrass music. The band has also collaborated with artists such as Bad Credit and The Aquabats.
