Biography

Kenny Thomas is a British soul singer known for his smooth, emotive vocals and his significant contribution to the UK's soul and R&B scene in the late 1980s and 1990s. Born in Islington, London, on 12 September 1968, he developed his musical identity with a sound deeply rooted in soul, R&B, and jazz, seamlessly blending traditional influences with contemporary styles. In 1991, he released his debut solo album, Voices, which included the hit single "Outstanding", a smooth and infectious track that solidified his place in the UK soul scene. The success of "Outstanding" led to a string of successful singles and albums throughout the early 1990s, with tracks like "Thinking About Your Love" and "Best of You" earning him a loyal following. His sophomore album, Wait for Me (1993), featured a more refined and mature sound, with songs like "I Can’t Stop", which became another hit and further cemented his reputation as one of the UK’s premier soul voices. Following his 1990s peak, he enjoyed a return to music in the mid-2000s, which picked up again in the 2020s with the release of fresh albums such 2025's Unstoppable. The LP features vocals from Kim Wilde.
