Biography
Kartellen was a Swedish gangsta rap hip hop group formed in 2008 by Leo Carmona and Janne Raninen. Fronted by Sebastian Stakset, the group focused on social issues and crime in Swedish suburbs through mixtapes and albums. They released the mixtapes Kartellen är här (2009) and Programrebeller (2009), followed by the single âGÃ¥ lossâ (2009). After issuing the single âBort med alliansenâ (2010), they released their debut studio album, Reflektion (2011). Their professional breakthrough occurred with the album Ã
nger & kamp (2012), which featured the singles âMina omrÃ¥denâ (2012), reaching number 26 on the Sverigetopplistan, and âStäll dig uppâ (2012), which reached number 43. They followed these with Ã
nger & kamp del 2 (2013), reaching number 15, and the singles âUnderklassmusikâ (2013) and âSvarta duvor & vissna liljorâ (2013). Stakset announced his departure in February 2016, and the band disbanded in May 2016 following the release of their final album, Slutpläderingen (2016), which reached number 25.
