Biography

Karnivool, an Australian progressive rock band from Perth, Western Australia, was formed in 1998 by high school friends. In 1998, Ian Kenny became the lead vocalist and renamed the band Karnivool. The lineup stabilized by 2004 with Kenny on vocals, Drew Goddard and Mark Hosking on guitars, Jon Stockman on bass, and Steve Judd on drums. Karnivool released their debut EP Karnivool in 1999, followed by Persona in March 2001. Their first full-length album, Themata, was independently published in February 2005 and later re-released internationally through Bieler Bros. Records in April 2007. The band's second studio album, Sound Awake, was released in June 2009 and debuted at number two on the ARIA Album Charts. Their third album, Asymmetry, was released in July 2013 and reached Number 1 on the Australian albums chart and charting in European countries. In February 2026, Karnivool released their fourth full-length, In Verses.
