FRankly is a four-member band from South Korea, consisting of Jung Seung-hwan on vocals and guitar, Na Hyung-chul on guitar, Kim Sung-jae on drums, and Gu Dong-wook on bass. Formed on July 20, 2020, the band reinterprets the nostalgic vibes of Britpop and American alternative rock from their school days, infusing their music and visuals with a unique FRankly style. The name "FRankly" signifies a desire to express their honest feelings through their music and lyrics, choosing "Frankly" over "Honestly" to denote a straightforward, albeit potentially negative, honesty. They use a ghost emoji (ð») to represent their image of a "Hi-Teen Nerd," a term reflecting the transient, ghost-like presence of someone who, despite being liked, remains somewhat inconspicuous and quickly fades away. This concept relates to a lack of self-honesty, mirroring their music's emotional transparency. The band's logo emphasizes the letters "FR" in uppercase, deriving from the word "From," symbolizing "From FRankly," indicating the origin of their creative expressions. The band has released some music since their debut, including the EP Frankly I⦠(2020), the album FRANKLY Iâ¦AM FREE! (2023) and several singles, including "Duck Season" (2025).
