Biography
Hathaw9y (í´ìì¨ì´) is a South Korean indie pop band formed in Busan in 2020, composed of Kang Kiwi, Choi Seyo, and Lee Teukmin. The group emerged after Kiwi and Seyoâs time in a previous band and Teukminâs guitar training under Kiwi. Their name pays tribute to American soul legend Donny Hathaway. Hathaw9y debuted with the EP Boy Loves Hayley in 2020, followed by Woo Scribbling Night in 2021, during which they also performed alongside acts like Gong Joong Geu Neul, Cadejo, and Platform Stereo. The following year, they released the EP Sweet Violet Flame. That same year, they appeared on The EBS Space and were spotlighted as part of Busanâs emerging indie scene alongside Say Sue Me. Their first full-length studio album, Essential, came out in 2023.
