Biography

Kaoru Sugita (born November 27, 1964 in Tokyo) is a female singer and actor who has left her mark on the Japanese music scene with her overwhelming singing ability, which she developed as a child actress. She learned singing and dancing in a theater company from her childhood, and made her record debut in 1973 with the single "I saw it, I heard it. On June 21, 1981, she released "Tori no Uta," an insert song for a hit TV drama in which she appeared. The song, for which Yuu Aku wrote the lyrics, became a major hit, as her clear and elongated voice made a great impression throughout Japan. Her album information also stood out, and she positively inserted "Tori no Uta," an album of the same name released in the same year, making her presence as an artist known to the world. 2004 saw the re-release of a single containing a self-cover and remix of "Tori no Uta," which again topped the charts.
