Kamil BÄhounek, born on March 29, 1916, in Blatná, was a Czech swing accordionist and composer. He began his musical journey as an accordion virtuoso and was introduced to jazz through a concert by Jack Hylton. BÄhounek's first recording took place in 1936 with an amateur band from the Gramoklub in Prague. He later joined Harry Harden's orchestra before becoming a member of Rudolf Antonin Dvorský's ensemble, where he also composed and arranged music. In 1940, BÄhounek moved to Karel Vlach's orchestra and was forced to work in Berlin during World War II. Post-war, he returned to Prague and recorded his first albums for Ultraphon in 1944. In 1948, BÄhounek relocated to West Germany, working as an arranger for various artists. He passed away on December 9, 1983, in Bonn, Germany.
