Biography
Jurie Els is an Afrikaans singer and songwriter. He started singing professionally in 1994 after winning the popular TV quiz program Noot vir Noot in 1991. Beginning in 1984, he wrote lyrics for over 600 songs recorded by more than 50 South African artists, establishing himself as a prolific songwriter. Els released his debut album Soveel Drome in 1994 and went on to release numerous albums, including Vat-Vat (1995), which was certified platinum, and Duet met Patricia Lewis (1998), also certified platinum. He collaborated with various artists and released compilations such as Goud (2001) and Net Jy (2007). Els won multiple awards as a music producer and songwriter. In 2016, he retired from the music business and acquired Retro Records, a company that buys and sells vinyl records.
