Emerging from the Ciudad Satélite neighborhood of Maipú in 2003, Chilean hip hop duo Liricistasâformed by MCs Armestyle (Pedro Cruells) and Benjamic (BenjamÃn Carvajal)âquickly gained traction in the local scene through self-recorded tracks that mixed everyday reflections with sharp social commentary. Their early homemade efforts culminated in Más Abajo, a raw but honest debut that laid the foundation for their evolving sound. In 2011, with the support of Nicolás Vera and DJ Acres, they released 4 Life under TexasEstudio, marking their first formal studio album and sparking nationwide recognition with standout tracks like âEstilo Libreâ and âArgo.â Known for their energetic live performances, they built a loyal following through tours across Chile and collaborations with artists beyond hip hop, including Camila Moreno and Colombina Parra. Their third album No Dejes Que Se Apague (2014) deepened their lyrical introspection, while 2016âs Bon Voyage, released through Boa Music and Potoco Discos, featured contributions for other rap luminaries like Jonas Sanche and Chystemc. Beyond music, the group also launched Represento Magazine and its radio program, becoming cultural anchors for Chileâs hip hop movement. This status of elder statesmen of Chilean rap was confirmed in the following years through releases like Galaxia (2018), Hip Hope (2021), and Deja Vu (2024). The latter was performed in its entirety with several stellar appearances on the 2025 live release Deja Vu & Friends.
