Jesús Cristóbal Pat Chablé, born on December 24, 1991, in Pino Suárez, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, began rapping around 2005, first in Spanish alongside his older brother before transitioning to Yucatec Maya in 2008 to reclaim and promote his cultural identity. He released his first full Maya-language album, Mi Primer Paso/In Yáax Xinbaal, in 2011, marking the start of his mission to bring indigenous language into hip-hop. In 2012, his collaboration with El Cima Atte on the track âSangre Mayaâ became a milestone for Maya rap and remains one of the genreâs most streamed songs. Until El Cima Atteâs passing in 2014, the two worked closely to build visibility for their community. That same year, Pat Boy co-founded the label and collective ADN Maya to support other indigenous artists. In 2017, he collaborated with YazmÃn Novelo on âXÃimbal Kaaj,â a widely viewed anthem of cultural pride. His artistic evolution continued with Soy un Máasewáal in 2018 and Raap Ich Máaya in 2019, albums that blended traditional rhythms with modern styles like reggaeton and reggae while addressing themes like land rights, language, and environmental protection. He achieved international exposure in 2022 with âLaayliâ kuxaâanoâone,â featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. In 2024, Pat Boy released Mi Música en Tu Zona, continuing to position Maya-language rap on the global stage through his work as an artist and cultural advocate.
