Jorge Dalto was born on July 7, 1948, in Roque Pérez, Argentina. Dalto was a pianist and composer known for a style blending jazz and Afro-Cuban music. Career highlights include work as the musical director and keyboardist for George Benson, contributing the acoustic piano intro and solo to the 1976 version of âThis Masqueradeâ (1976). Dalto performed with artists including Tito Puente, Grover Washington Jr., Spyro Gyra, Fuse One, Gato Barbieri, and Willie Colón. Discography releases include Chevere (1976), Rendezvous (1983), Solo Piano (1983), New York Nightline (1984), and Urban Oasis (1985). The album Listen Up (1988) was released posthumously. Dalto died of cancer on October 27, 1987, in New York.
