Biography
on Z, born Jonathan Resto Quiñones on May 20, 1991 in Juncos, Puerto Rico, first gained recognition in the mid-2010s by uploading freestyles to YouTube, which led to a record deal with Chosen Few under Boy Wonder. His 2015 debut mixtape The Game Is About to Change established his distinctive high-pitched rap flow over a mix of Latin trap, reggaetón, and hip-hop. In 2017, he set a record for the longest number of words in an eight-minute track with âSuper Jon-Z (Residente Challenge),â and in 2018 teamed up with cousin Ele a el Dominio on Super Saiyan Flow, which peaked at number 13 on Billboardâs Latin Rhythm Albums chart. 2019 saw two career milestones: his collaboration with Enrique Iglesias on the hit âDespués Que Te PerdÃ,â which earned a spot on Billboardâs Hot Latin Songs, and his featured verse on YGâs U.S. top-50 single âGo Loko.â In 2019 he also released the joint album Voodoo with Baby Rasta, further showcasing his versatility. Over the next few years, Jon Z continued dropping singles and collaborationsâincluding âSuave (Remix)â with El Alfa and Myke Towers and Paz y Bendiciones from 2022's Proyecto Zâwhile expanding his musical palette. Throughout 2024 and into 2025, heâs maintained momentum with features like âJEVA NUEVAâ on Real (2024) and âI See (Remix)â alongside Nicky Jam, Tory Lanez, and Richard Orlinski, and has steadily grown his online following and streaming presence, cementing his reputation as one of Puerto Ricoâs most innovative and eclectic urbano artists.
