Biography
John Kenneth Wetton was born in Willington, UK, on June 12, 1949. His passion for music led him to make a living from his art in the late 1960s, when he joined professional bands such as Mogul Thrash, Family, King Crimson (with whom he co-wrote the 1975 album Red), Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, UK, Wishbone Ash and Asia. It was with this last group that he enjoyed the biggest sales of his career, in 1982, thanks to their first album of the same name. Accustomed to working with demanding, highly technical musicians such as Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, Steve Howe, Allan Holdsworth, Terry Bozzio and Phil Manzanera, John Wetton developed a keen sense of improvisation. His solo discography began in 1980 with the album Caught in The Crossfire and ended in 2011 with Raised in Activity . He died of colon cancer on January 31, 2017.
