Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe was formed in the United Kingdom in 1988 by former Yes members Jon Anderson (vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion), Bill Bruford (drums, percussion), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and Steve Howe (electric and acoustic guitars, pedal steel, backing vocals), with Tony Levin on bass for the studio album. The groupâs breakthrough came with the release of the selfâtitled single "Order of the Universe" on 19â¯Juneâ¯1989, which introduced their collaborative sound. In the same year the band issued its debut studio album, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe, featuring tracks such as "Brother of Mine" and "Teakbois", and later recorded the live album An Evening Of Yes Music Plus in 1993, capturing a soldâout performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Subsequent releases included the live recording Live At The NEC (2012). The project remained active until the early 1990s, after which members returned to their respective projects; the group did not disband formally but ceased new recordings. The album Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe achieved notable chart positions in the United Kingdom and the United States, and the single "Order of the Universe" reached the top 100 in the United Kingdom Singles Chart. The bandâs work is regarded as a significant chapter in progressive rock history, preserving the legacy of Yes through a distinct supergroup format.
