Joe van Enkhuizen, born on June 24, 1939, in Wormerveer, Netherlands, is a jazz musician and composer known for his skills on the accordion and saxophone. He began playing music with an accordion gifted by his grandfather and later took up the saxophone in 1956. In the 1960s, van Enkhuizen worked with Chris Hinze in France and returned to the Netherlands to play with Han Tromp's Zaans Rhythm Quintet. His first album, So Why, was released on Imperial Records in 1965. After a hiatus, he made a comeback in the mid-1980s with recordings for Criss Cross Jazz, including Joe Meets The Rhythm Section (1987). He collaborated with notable musicians such as Rufus Reid and Horace Parlan. His work includes several albums featuring Duke Ellington's compositions, such as Ellington Ballads (1990) and The Ellington Legacy (1993).
