Biography

Jessica Pavone is a viola player and composer based in the United States of America, and known for her work in avant-garde jazz and improvisational music. She studied at the Hartt School of Music before moving to New York City in 2000, where she became active in the local music scene. Pavone also collaborated extensively with avant-jazz guitarist Mary Halvorson, releasing collaborative albums such as Prairies (2005), On And Off (2007), and Departure Of Reason (2011). Notable solo albums include Army Of Strangers (2011) and Songs of Synastry and Solitude (2009), inspired by Leonard Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate, Hope Dawson Is Missing (2012), and What Happens Has Become Now(2024). She has received grants from the Aaron Copland Recording Fund and the American Music Center.
