Biography

Jesse Dee is an R&B and soul singer born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 10, 1980. Growing up in Arlington, MA, he was turned onto soul music at the age of 8 while listening to WODS, a local oldies radio station. Influenced by doo wop, Motown and vocal groups like The Drifters, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Shirelles as well as legendary vocalists like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Dee made up songs and sung them into a tape recorder but did not learn to play the guitar until he was 18. He attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design and performed solo live shows whenever the opportunity arose. He began singing with ten-piece soul outfit Decifunk and rock band The Dirty Whites. In 2008, Dee released his first solo album Bittersweet Batch. He became a popular live draw outside of Boston, touring the East Coast before traveling to Philadelphia, Nashville and Chicago to spread his brand of soul. He then toured overseas, playing live shows in the Netherlands, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Ireland. He signed to Alligator Records and released his second album, On My Mind/In My Heart, in 2013.
