Biography

Jerry Léonide, a Mauritian jazz pianist born on May 3, 1985, in Port-Louis, began his musical journey at age seven with guitar lessons. He received his first synthesizer as a gift and joined local groups performing Anglo-Saxon pop music. At 16, he met saxophonist Ernest Wiehe and bassist Linley Marthe, who influenced his development. In 2003, Léonide moved to Paris, studying economics while taking jazz piano courses at the Conservatoire. He established himself in the Parisian music scene, collaborating with various artists. His debut album, The Key, released in 2014 under ACT Music, received critical acclaim. Notable achievements include winning third prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival Piano Solo Competition and first prizes at the Boris Vian and Montreux Jazz Festival competitions, respectively.
