Biography

Jean-Pascal Lacoste began his career as a singer, before turning to other television-related activities. Born in Toulouse on June 21, 1978, he grew up in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and worked as a lifeguard, before signing up for the first edition of the TV show Star Academy. Selected by the show's production team, he stood out for his humor rather than his vocal qualities, and saw his fame grow despite his elimination in the semi-finals at the beginning of 2002. After taking part in the tour that followed, Jean-Pascal was signed by the Universal-affiliated Mercury label for the recording of "L'Agitateur", which proved a hit, reaching no. 2 in France (no. 1 in Belgium) and going gold. Following two other highly acclaimed titles, "Rue de la Liberté" (No. 13) and "La Chanson con",(No. 17), the album Qui Es-Tu? was released (2002), which in turn reached No. 7 in the sales charts and was awarded a gold disc. A year later, the album Plein Sud saw the singer/humorist venture into pop, particularly Latin, but without regaining his initial success. From then on, Jean-Pascal Lacoste pursued his career as a series actor and TV host, without returning to singing.
