Japanese rock band, BAROQUE was formed in May 2001. The group initially consisted of guitarist Akira and bassist Bansaku, who were later joined by vocalist Ryo and guitarist Kei. BAROQUE released their first demo, "Hitei Derikashi", in September 2001, followed by the mini-album Tokyo Stripper in January 2002. The band's early career saw them performing at notable venues such as NHK Hall and Akasaka Blitz. In Spring 2003, BAROQUE signed to a major label and released their first major single "Gakidou". Their second major single, "Ila" (2004), featured a trance/electronica sound. The band achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fastest act to play at the prestigious Nippon Budokan, just two years and three months into their career. However, internal issues led to the departure of several members, including drummer Yuji in May 2003 and bassist Bansaku in September 2004. BAROQUE officially disbanded on September 11, 2004, following the release of their first album Sug Life. The band reunited for a free concert in July 2011 and fully restarted activities in January 2012, achieving chart success with three singles reaching number 3, 4, and 5 positions on Oricon's main chart, respectfully. Following the departure of Bansaku and Akira, BAROQUE continued as a duo consisting of Ryo and Kei, releasing albums such as PLANETARY SECRET (2015) and PUER ET PUELLA.
