Jay Ansill, born Jay on December 18, 1961, in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania, is a composer and folk musician known primarily as a Celtic harpist and fiddler. He developed an interest in folk music during his high school years at Cheltenham High School, leading to performances with the Schuylkill Valley Nature Boys. Ansill's early career included playing mandolin and fiddle at square dances and Irish Ceilis. His first solo album, Origami won Best Folk Recording and he was nominated twice as Best Folk Instrumentalist by the Philadelphia Music Foundation. Ansill's notable works include A Lost World, an adaptation of poems by Robert Graves, and collaborations with artists such as Robin Williamson and Maria del Mar Bonet.
