Jason Robinson, born September 20, 1975 in Folsom, California, is an American composer, saxophonist, flutist, scholar, and educator. His musical journey began under the direction of Jon Maloney at Folsom Middle School and continued with celebrated music educator Curtis Gaesser at Folsom High School. Robinson's first album as a leader, From the Sun, was released in 1998, featuring mentor Mel Graves. He played gigs in Sacramento while attending high school and later studied at University of Southern California and Sonoma State University. Robinson earned his Master of Arts and PhD in music from the University of California, San Diego. His notable albums include Tandem (2002), The Two Faces Of Janus (2010), and Harmonic Constituent (2020). He has collaborated with various artists including Anthony Davis and JD Parran. Robinson is a professor of music at Amherst College, having previously taught at several institutions in California.
