Martin Schmitt was born on January 15, 1968, in Munich, Germany. He is a pianist and singer known for playing a mixture of soul, jazz, and blues. He began singing and playing piano and tuba at age 14. He performed in the Munich scene and at festivals as a blues and boogie-woogie pianist. He shared the stage and collaborated with artists like Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. He released the albums Handful of Blues (1993) and Five Feet And The Blues (1995). He composed two titles for the ARD thriller Im Visier des Bösen featuring Klaus-Maria Brandauer. He won awards including the Tassilo-Preis of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Solistenpreis at the Schwarzwald Musikfestival in 2016.
