Biography

Janysett McPherson, born on March 22, 1979, in GuantÃ¡namo, Cuba, is a jazz pianist, singer, and composer. Influenced by Ernesto Lecuona, Bola de Nieve, and Chucho ValdÃ©s, McPherson began her career in Cuba, earning the Premio Adolfo GuzmÃ¡n. She collaborated with notable artists such as Orchestra Anacaona and Buena Vista Social Club. Following her 2009 album Live in studio, McPherson released Tres Almas (2011), featuring collaborations with Didier Lockwood and Andy Narell. Her album Blue Side Live (2014) earned her a nomination at the Internacional Cubadisco, an honor she also received for her previous album. McPherson performed at venues like Le Duc des Lombards in Paris and festivals including the Nice Jazz Festival. She released the album Solo Piano (2020) and presented it at the festival organized by Piano City Milano in 2021.
