Biography

A contestant on the eighth season of The X Factor in 2011, Northern Irish singer Janet Devlin went on to pursue a solo career in pop and folk. Born Janet Maureen Aoife Devlin in Gortin, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, on November 12, 1994, she posted her first songs on social networks before auditioning for The X Factor in 2011. Placing fifth in the eighth season, she took part in the tour that followed and then focused on her solo career. Assisted by Newton Faulkner and Jack Savoretti, she recorded her debut album Hide & Seek (2013), produced by Eliot Kennedy for the PledgeMusic label. In 2014, her successor Running with Scissors captures more of the public's attention, reaching #43 in the UK charts, #8 in independent sales and #1 in the Indie Breakers Charts, based on independent artists who have never reached the Top 40. The latter includes the hits "Wonderful" and "House of Cards" (#34 in Belgium). After three EPs, Duvet Daze and December Daze in 2015, then Little Lights in 2016, Janet Devlin returns in 2019 with the tracks "Confessional" and "Saint of the Sinners", taken from the album Confessional (2020), the musical counterpart to her autobiography My Confessional. The following year sees the release of her version of Elton John's ballad "Your Song", before her 4th country-tinged album, Emotional Rodeo, in 2024.
