Biography

James Talley, born November 9, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an American singer-songwriter known for his contributions to country and blues music. After moving to Nashville in 1968, Talley's career took off with the release of his first album, Got No Bread, No Milk, No Money, But We Sure Got A Lot Of Love, in 1975. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he released several albums under Capitol Records, including Tryin' Like The Devil (1976) and Blackjack Choir (1977). His song "Are They Gonna Make Us Outlaws Again?" (1976) was ranked Number 60 in the book Heartaches by the Number - Country Music's 500 Greatest Singles. Talley has been championed by mentors such as John Hammond Sr. and Jerry Wexler, and his songs have been recorded by notable artists including Johnny Cash and Moby.
