American rapper Isaiah Rashad was born Isaiah Rashad McClain on May 16, 1991 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was in that cityâs southern hip-hop scene that he first came up, and he tool inspiration from southern rap artists like Outkast. He helped found The House, a loose collective of rappers from the city that included YGTUT, Brian Brown, Chris P., and others. His 2014 debut EP, Cilvia Demo, built an audience and such respect within the hip-hop community that it went to number 9 on the R&B/hip hop chart and number 40 on the main album chart. His fame rose within the rap community as he toured extensively with various other rappers. All that live performing built anticipation for his debut album, 2016âs The Sunâs Tirade, which would reach number 17 on the album chart. He talked openly about the substance and mental health problems he battled during that time period, and it would be five years before he issued his follow-up, 2021âs The House Is Burning. In addition to giving him âLay wit Yaâ, one of the best charting singles of his career to that point, the album would be his first to go top 10 on both the main album and the R&B/Hop-Hop charts.
