Biography
Irina Loghin, born on February 19, 1939 in Gura Vitioarei, was a Romanian singer and politician. She studied at the Bucharest Arts High School and later at the PloieÈti People's School of Arts. Loghin began her music career in 1962 as a soloist with the Ciocârlia orchestra. Her radio debut followed in 1963, and she founded a duo with Benone Sinulescu in 1967. Notable albums include BÄdiÈÄ, De Dorul TÄu (1967) and Pe Drumul CÄruÈelor (1970). In 1982, Elena CeauÈescu banned Loghin from performing due to jealousy over her popularity. After the Romanian Revolution of 1989, she returned to the stage. In 1998, she became a member of the Greater Romania Party, and six years later secured a Senate seat for Giurgiu County.
