Into Eternity, a Canadian progressive death metal band from Regina, Saskatchewan, was formed in 1997 by Tim Roth, Scott Krall, and Jim Austin. The group released their debut album Into Eternity independently in 1999, which was later re-released after signing with Century Media Records. In 2001, they followed up with Dead or Dreaming, showcasing a blend of progressive and death metal elements. Subsequent albums included Buried in Oblivion (2004) and The Scattering of Ashes (2006). The band performed on Gigantour 2006 and toured with Dream Theater during their North American leg of the Chaos in Motion tour in 2007. Their concept album The Incurable Tragedy was released in August 2008. In 2012, Amanda Kiernan became a full-time vocalist. The band's sixth studio album, The Sirens, was released in October 2018 after several delays.
