Biography

Internal Void was an American doom metal band formed in Frederick, Maryland, in August 1987. The group released their first self-titled demo in 1989, later referred to by fans as Smokestack due to its cover artwork. In 1992, Internal Void signed with Hellhound Records and released their debut album Standing on the Sun, featuring songs such as "Internal Void" and "Nothing But Misery". The band toured in the United States with Saint Vitus before leaving Hellhound Records in 1993. In 2000, they signed with Southern Lord and released Unearthed. The band released their final album, Matricide, in 2004 and disbanded on May 18, 2013.
