I Tarantolati di Tricarico is an Italian folk and ethnic music group from Tricarico, Basilicata, formed in 1975. Founded by Antonio Infantino, the group is recognized for its exploration of traditional tarantella rhythms and Lucanian peasant culture. Infantino led the group in utilizing percussion-based music as a form of social commentary and healing. The groupâs debut studio album, I Tarantolati, was released in 1975, followed by La Morte Bianca - Tarantata dell'Italsider (1976) and Follie del Divino Spirito Santo (1978). During their career, the group performed at international festivals such as Rock Against Racism in Brussels (1978) and Womex in Copenhagen. Their later discography includes the albums Andamenare (2000), U Squatasce (2006), and Abballam (2008). In 2015, they released the retrospective Sciam Sciam - Quaranta di Taranta, marking forty years of activity, followed by the album Terra che trema in 2016. The group also contributed to film soundtracks and Materaâs 2019 cultural celebrations.
