Alynda Mariposa Segarra, born in Newâ¯Orleans, Louisiana, founded the American folk band Hurray for the Riff Raff as a solo project that grew into a full ensemble. The groupâs debut single "It Don't Mean I Don't Love You" was selfâreleased in 2009, followed by Young Blood Blues in 2010. Subsequent albums-Hurray for the Riff Raff (2011), Look Out Mama (2012), My Dearest Darkest Neighbor (2013), Small Town Heroes (2014), The Navigator (2017), Life on Earth (2022), and The Past Is Still Alive (2024)-were issued through Loose Music, ATO Records, and Nonesuch, with singles such as "Pierced Arrows" (2022). The energy of the band comes through in the 2026 release Live Forever. The band toured Europe, the United States, and Canada, performed at Roskilde and Newport Folk, and earned a Best Music Video award at SXSW 2019 and recognition in the Associated Press 2024 bestâalbums list.
