Biography

Human Resource are a Dutch electronic music ensemble from Ridderkerk formed in 1990. The group was established by the musicians Robert Mahu and Johan van Beek and later included Jasper Drexhage, Guido Pernet, and the rapper Larenzo Nash. They achieved professional recognition for the track “Dominator” (1991) which reached number 6 in the Netherlands, number 6 in Belgium, and number 36 in the United Kingdom. The track significantly impacted the techno hardcore scene and was later allegedly sampled by Lady Gaga in the track “Bad Romance” (2009) and lawfully sampled by Rihanna in the track “Birthday Cake” (2011). Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Dominating the World (1991) which reached number 60 in the Netherlands. After van Beek departed in 1992 the ensemble included the rapper Marvin D. Their discography includes the tracks “The Joke” (1992), “Me the Power!” (1992), and “Rave-O-lution” (1992). Following the departures of Marvin D and Drexhage in 1995 the ensemble included Sander Scheurwater. Their discography includes the studio recording The Kicking Noise of Rotterdam (1993) and the track “Fuck Them” (1994). The ensemble became inactive at the end of the 1990s. Pernet resumed activity with Zenon Zevenbergen and Maurice Steenbergen in 2004. Zevenbergen departed in 2005. The group established the gabber festival Dominator (2005).
