Biography

Home Service, a British folk rock group, was formed in late 1980 from members of Ashley Hutchings' Albion Band. Their career began with the release of two tracks from a demo session as a single, "Doing The Inglish" and "Bramsley", in 1982. Home Service's debut album, The Home Service, was released in 1984. Their third album, Alright Jack (1986), featured compositions by John Tams such as the title track and "Sorrow/Babylon". The group disbanded shortly after its release but reunited in 1991 for a charity compilation. In 2015, John Kirkpatrick replaced Tams as the main singer, and they released A New Ground (2016).
