Biography

J-Pop and folk singer, songwriter, and musician Hitomi Yaida - also known as Yaiko - was born in Toyonaka, Japan on July 28, 1978. She made her debut with the independent single “Howling” (2000), which became a surprise hit and attracted the attention of major labels. Signing with Toshiba-EMI, she released the single "B'Coz I Love You," which reached Number 16 on the singles chart in 2000. Hitomi Yaida released her debut album, Daiya-monde, in 2000. She followed that up with the albums Candlize (2001), I/flancy (2002), Air/Cook/Sky (2003), Here Today - Gone Tomorrow (2005), It's a New Day (2006), and Colorhythm (2008). The Best of Hitomi Yaida (2009) was released to celebrate her 10th anniversary as a recording artist and was used as a stop gap as she took time off to start a family. She returned in 2011 with the album Vivid Moments, which was followed a year later by Panodrama. In 2013, she released the mini-album 123456 then took a break before resuming her recording career with the album Time Clip (2016). The next year, she issued the stripped down Acoustic Live at Blue Note Tokyo and her 11th studio album Sharing. In 2022, Hitomi Yaida released the compilation Days of FM802 2000-2013 followed by her 12th studio album all right, which reached Number 18 on the Japanese Albums chart.
